Hyrox gym equipment list
Facts checked October 2026
A HYROX race is eight 1 km runs, each followed by a workout station. Everything below comes from HYROX's own race and judging pages. HYROX is a trademark of its owner; this page covers the equipment a gym needs to train for the format, from any maker.
The eight stations and the equipment each needs
Distances and reps are the same for every division. Weights change by division, so a gym running classes needs more than one size of kettlebell, sandbag and wall ball.

|---|---|---|---|
| 1. SkiErg | 1,000 m, damper 6 | Ski erg | — |
| 2. Sled push | 50 m as 4 × 12.5 m lengths | Push sled + a turf lane at least 12.5 m long | Set by division, see the rulebook |
| 3. Sled pull | 50 m as 4 × 12.5 m lengths | Sled with pull rope + turf lane | Set by division, see the rulebook |
| 4. Burpee broad jumps | 80 m | Open floor space | — |
| 5. Rowing | 1,000 m, damper 6 | Rowing erg | — |
| 6. Farmers carry | 200 m | Kettlebell pairs | 16 kg, 24 kg, 32 kg |
| 7. Sandbag lunges | 100 m | Sandbags | 10 kg, 20 kg, 30 kg |
| 8. Wall balls | 100 reps | Wall balls + wall target | 4 kg, 6 kg, 9 kg |
Open divisions use the lighter weights and Pro divisions the heavier ones; women's Open uses 16 kg kettlebells, 10 kg sandbags and 4 kg wall balls. Source: HYROX judges' station guide.
What a gym actually has to buy
Most stations use equipment many gyms already own: rowers, kettlebells, wall balls and floor space. The pieces that usually need buying are ski ergs, sleds and a turf lane, because both sled stations are run over 12.5 m lengths.
Treadmills or an outdoor loop cover the running between stations. For prices, a Concept2 RowErg lists at $990 and a Torque TANK M3 commercial sled at $2,476; see what commercial equipment costs.

Official equipment vs Hyrox-style equipment
Centr is HYROX's Official Equipment Provider for its races from 2024, supplying the sleds, turf, wall balls, sandbags and kettlebells used on race day, and it sells that range to gyms. Gyms can also train with equivalent equipment from other makers; check sled design and turf length against what you want members to practise on.
Questions
What equipment is needed for a HYROX gym?
A ski erg, a rowing erg, a push/pull sled with a turf lane at least 12.5 m long, kettlebell pairs, sandbags, wall balls with a target, and room for burpee broad jumps. Treadmills or an outdoor loop cover the runs.
What machines do they use in HYROX?
Two ergs: a SkiErg for station 1 and a rowing machine for station 5, both over 1,000 m with the damper set to 6. Centr is HYROX's official equipment provider for races.
Can I train for HYROX in a regular gym?
Mostly. Rowers, kettlebells, sandbags and wall balls are common gym kit. The sled stations need a sled and a turf lane, which many gyms add specifically for Hyrox-style classes.
Where can I buy HYROX equipment?
